Attractions

As our guest at the Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast the Lake County Historical Society would encourage you to enjoy all that Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior has to offer. Out the front door of the Bed & Breakfast is the Sonju Trail, a pedestrian trail between our two bays, Agate and Burlington. You can also walk out on the pier and watch the massive lake freighters load Minnesota iron ore.

In less than a thirty minute drive from the B&B are four state parks; Gooseberry, Split Rock, Crosby-Manitou, and Tettaguche. All offer excellent hiking and exceptional scenery. In additon to the state parks Two Harbors is the gateway to the north shore and we say "It All Starts Here". Whether it is kayaking the big lake on the Superior Water Trail, enjoying the vistas while walking the Superior Hiking Trail, biking the Gitche Gammi Trail, (a paved bike and pedestrian trail), raising trail dust on the many motor trails (you can rent ATV's), or cross country sking and snowshoeing (you can rent all this too), or taking a long snowmobile ride along the Arrowhead Trail System there is always something for everyone. Fishing? You bet! Catching steelhead in the rivers or Kamloops in the big lake, they are there.

If your more in the mood for urban activities Duluth is just 25 minutes away. You can enjoy the fine dining, shopping, arts and cultural offerings of this sophisticated little city and still return to the Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast for an evening of quiet comfort.

In the area for the day? You can see the Two Harbors Light Station Museum by stopping by for a self-guided tour. The Two Harbors Light Station is one of four museums operated by the Lake County Historical Society. The others are the Duluth & Iron Range Depot Museum, the Edna G Tugboat Tour, and the Dwan Building 3M Museum.

Museum Hours: Monday - Saturday, 10:00am - 6:00pm and Sundays from 10:00am - 4:00pm, May through October. Please contact the Lake County Historical Society office at 218-834-4898 for winter tours.
